The Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja was scheduled to resume proceedings today in the alleged $190,324 fraud case involving Sierra Leonean national Favour Foday Kamara, following his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Kamara was arraigned on October 20, 2026, before Justice O. A. Okunuga on a two-count charge bordering on alleged stealing and fraudulent conversion of funds belonging to Henrietta Vandi, a 70-year-old Sierra Leonean resident in the United States.
According to the EFCC, Vandi allegedly transferred $190,324 to Kamara through Ria, Western Union, MoneyGram and cash transfers into his Access Bank account to purchase and renovate a property in the Araromi area of Alimosho, Lagos.
The commission alleged that the property was subsequently purchased in Kamara’s name and that he resides there and collects rent from tenants.
One of the charges alleged that Kamara dishonestly converted the funds to his personal use between August 2021 and February 2025, contrary to Sections 278(1)(b) and 285(9) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Kamara pleaded not guilty to the charges. Following his plea, the court ordered his remand at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre and adjourned the case until October 29 for further proceedings.
