JSC Solid Bank’s Russia designation is varied as UK authorities correct entries under terrorism and human-rights sanctions regimes.
The UK Government has updated its sanctions list, varying the designation of JSC Solid Bank, an entity sanctioned under the Russia regime, while correcting the records of two individuals listed under separate sanctions regimes
The changes were announced yesterday, as part of the UK’s latest maintenance of its consolidated sanctions designations.
The Russia-related change concerns JSC Solid Bank, identified on the UK sanctions list by unique ID RUS3077. The government said the entity’s designation was varied, although the update notice did not specify further details of the amendment.
Two individual entries were also corrected. Abubakar Swalleh, listed under the ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida sanctions regime with unique ID AQD0388, had his designation record corrected.
The government also corrected the designation of Avichai Suissa, listed under the Global Human Rights sanctions regime with unique ID GHR0202.
The latest changes reinforce the importance of sanctions-list maintenance for banks, financial institutions and other regulated businesses, particularly where screening systems depend on accurate names, identifiers and designation data.
For compliance teams, even apparently administrative amendments can have operational consequences. Variations to an entity’s designation may require firms to review existing screening records, customer relationships, payment controls and internal sanctions-risk assessments.
The UK Government’s latest update therefore serves as another reminder that sanctions compliance is not a one-time screening exercise. Firms must maintain continuous monitoring of sanctions lists and promptly incorporate designation changes and corrections into their controls.
